Session: My journey through burnout and how I used it as an opportunity to grow
According to Forbes, approximately 60% of people working in TECH have experienced or are currently experiencing burnout. These statistics are alarming. But sadly that’s not all : Studies also proved that women are more likely to burnout than men. So... what can we conclude for women working in tech, that are cumulating both criteria ?
Burnout became the sin of this century but still, this is a taboo subject, not known properly by the society. Many are still unaware of how devastating burnout can be and how to support / help its victims.
During this talk, I will share with you through my personal journey :
- Why, as women in tech particularly, we need to be careful about burnout;
- What can be its impacts, its consequences;
- How I recovered from it;
- And finally, which lessons I learned from this experience, in order to grow personally;
Bio
After getting experience in different tech disciplines, I decided to continue my way as a freelancer software engineer, specialised in mobile (Android / iOS) and Java Back-End fields.
Currently helping a start-up called Greenzy, founded by three young women, I'm really happy to contribute to the success of their story.
Also, a few months ago, I decided to become a Global Ambassador of WomenTech, in order to learn from inspiring women but also to support, mentor and help by sharing my own experience with them. I'm intimately convinced that everybody has its own story, that can help others to grow.
I would like then, through this talk, share my own story.
