Dr. Cheryl Cooper is a U.S. Veteran with a Doctorate in Computer Science. As a Cybersecurity Resilience Strategist and former Information Security Officer with a fortune 100 company with over 20 years of experience. She provides companies with strategies to build diverse talent pipelines that drive profitability.
As President of Women in Cybersecurity, Kansas and Missouri, Dr. Cooper champions women and underrepresented groups in cybersecurity and technology through mentoring, recruitment, and training. Her vision is to elevate the visibility of women in technology.
Beyond the bits and bytes of cybersecurity, Dr. Cooper is an author. Her memoir, Hood to Hooded, explores the power of choice. She also co-authored three anthologies: Voices of Wellness, Triumph in the Trenches, and Our Stories Belong in History. Dr. Cooper's passion for helping others shines through her numerous community initiatives. Her dedication has been recognized with multiple awards, including being honored by Central Exchange Midwest as a champion and bridge builder, and receiving the ABWA Martin Luther King, Jr. award for, Keeping the Dream Alive, in education and community service. Dr. Cooper's mission is clear: We must see the Black and Brown girl in a world in which she is usually unseen. Dr. Cooper believes that together, we can reprogram the future of women in technology, creating an industry whose diversity matches the complexity of the challenges we face.
