Software Engineer in Test II – Akamai Defense Engineering - Remote

The Akamai Defense team works with breadth and depth across Akamai's technology stack to deliver a rich and wide set of customized solutions for our Public Sector customers. We collaborate, build, and operate world-class Enterprise Application Delivery Networks for the Public Sector and make them fast, reliable, and secure.

Shape the Next Generation Environment of our Government Customers

You will be working on the Akamai distributed cloud-based content delivery system that serves the Public Sector, including the US Army and the US Air Force. You will collaborate with our technical teams to help drive release automation and efficiency, build automated test suites, do regression testing, and identify areas of opportunities for optimization and innovation in software testing practices.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test II, you will be responsible for:

• Becoming familiar with the Akamai content delivery technology stack
• Performing full SQA cycles for software releases
• Building , running and analyzing automated tests
• Utilizing and improving existing tools and processes to guide releases through our release process
• Working with technical teams to develop comprehensive test plans and strategies

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrate software development experience with Python, Perl, or Shell Scripting, and ability to work with or read through C or C++, or Java code
• Have experience working in a Linux/UNIX environment, preferably with an emphasis on distributed systems and/or experience with containerized solutions
• Have experience creating test cases and plans, test frameworks, and automated testing
• Have experience with database systems and SQL
• Possess working knowledge of network protocols and web related technologies (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, etc.)
• Be a good team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills that enjoys collaborating and solving problems with others
• Have US citizenship and either have a US Government security clearance or the ability to obtain clearance
