Description

 

Applies knowledge of the HIPAA regulation and company security and privacy policies and procedures to complete a variety of assignments/tasks that mitigate security and privacy risks. Works on assignments that are routine to moderately complex in nature and requires problem resolution skills and independent judgment. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with the Covered Entity (Customer) and HP Account teams to perform gap analysis to identify potential risks to PHI, implement safeguards, and maintain compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule throughout the service contract period.
  • Oversee Business Associate compliance.
  • Publish security updates for organizational awareness.

 

  • Manage and investigate security incidents, leveraging formal processes to prevent and minimize breach events.
  • Perform root cause analysis of security incidents and implement corrective measures for future prevention and/or containment.
  • Participate in technical process improvement projects designed to reduce HIPAA risks (e.g., scoping, requirements, testing, documentation).
  • Create account specific policy and procedure guide for Covered Entity per contract agreement.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality HIPAA compliance program.

 

  • Assist business units with HIPAA compliance activities.

 

  • Review Business Associate Agreement accounts annually.

 

  • Proactively identify HIPAA accounts in HP sales (Dynamics) and service (CDAX) systems to help ensure appropriate safeguards are implemented.

 

  • Stay current with any updates in policy or legislation related to HIPAA and/or state health care law.   

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in the healthcare field is a plus
  • Project management experience – project management certification preferred
  • Strong Organizational skills and thorough understanding of HIPAA
  • Self-starter who can work independently
  • Adept at using Excel, Word, Zoom, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Strong communication skills
