Join Novanta as Senior Director PMO, leading our Global PMO to transform and scale our Minimally Invasive Surgery business group. This role will work cross-functionally to drive operational excellence, improve processes and margins whilst consistently providing an outstanding service to our customers.
Primary Responsibilites
- Establish a PMO that drives project management as a core discipline. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve project management processes, tools & templates (Scope management, Schedule management, Project Baselining, Project Change management, Risk management, Status reporting based on Visual Project Management / Obeya set ups). Ensure that new standards are being adopted, incorporated in design processes, and reflected in products’ technical files.
- Leads multi-disciplinary/cross-functional project teams across Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) business units to ensure that products are effectively developed and launched in accordance with the product development stage gate process and other regulatory requirements.
- Establish formal, consistent, rigorous, and consolidated management of a portfolio of critical path projects across MIS business units, including New Product Introduction, Site/Product Line Moves and Transfers, and other projects to sustain our product portfolio.
- Works with Program Managers to create project schedules and budgets in collaboration with technical project leads and functional managers, and then continually supports tracking and managing technical and schedule risks to ensure adherence to these schedules and budgets throughout the project execution timeline.
- Model and drive effective usage of NGS tools into the regular cadence and management of projects to increase competence and comfort with process and tools.
- Effectively communicates project status, KPIs, risks, and mitigation plans with key stakeholders on a regular basis. Ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
- Supports project teams to ensure successful transfer to manufacturing and ultimately success in the marketplace.
General tasks
- Maintain compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management officer and the occupational safety specialist.
- As a leader in Novanta, you will help create and maintain facilities for your area of responsibility, and for giving instructions and taking other measures to ensure, maintain and improve occupational safety and environmental protection regarding occupational safety and environmental protection, the prevention of occupational accidents and environmental damage, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards.
- B.S. in Engineering or other related technical discipline
- 10+ years of design engineering experience leading to at least 5 years of technical project engineering leadership managed within a structured development environment.
- Strong knowledge of program management fundamentals.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills across many domains
- Demonstrated passion to be highly organized and process driven.
- Trusted personality with entrepreneurial thinking. Ability to lead in direct and indirect chain of control; experience in managing through managers, be an aspirational leader and grow future leaders
- Experience in multi-site, multi-project environment
- Positive, can-do attitude, with strong engagement skills and ability to influence positive outcomes with a sense of urgency and personal commitment to market success, always tempered by a high moral and business code of conduct.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible enough to change priorities with short notice when necessary.
- Strong communication and presentation skills demonstrating the ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand ways to colleagues, internal stakeholders, and customers.
- Excellent working knowledge of common software tools such as including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project and Azure.
