The Role
Kyndryl are the undisputed market leader of Mainframe modernization, providing Mainframe managed services globally with the largest, mainframe and i-series infrastructure management team in the world.
Not only that, Kyndryl’s collaboration has expanded our alliances, to partnering with AWS to help our joint customers accelerate their mainframe modernization initiatives. With these new services and existing alliance services partnering with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, we support and enable mainframe transformation projects across all three hyperscalers.

As a Mainframe Modernisation Expert, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge solutions. Your work will play a critical role in our business offering, you will deliver value to our customers faster than ever before, and your attention to detail and commitment to quality will be critical in ensuring success.
As a valued member of our team, you will define and use design documentation, functional programming specifications, and high level design documents to implement identified components. You will ensure implemented components are documented appropriately, unit tested, and ready for integration into the final product.
We will ask you to present and demonstrate implemented product features through playback sessions. As well as guiding and explaining features, functional objectives, or technologies that are being built, to our customers.
Your role will include providing fixes to defects identified during pre-production and post-production phases in the software development life cycle, and providing work estimates for assigned development work.

Required Technical and Professional Experience
- Mainframe COBOL or Batch and either CICS or IMS with experience of the other
- Strong in Mainframe Batch COBOL, JCL, DB2 / IMS DB / IDMS and good exposure to any online systems (CICS or IMS)
- Experience in any one of the scripting Languages - REXX/CLIST, Python, ZOWE CLI
- Experience in Migration of COBOL applications or COBOL Version upgrades
- DevOps tools and experience
- Modernization Experience
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Experience in financial services application development is required. Or experience in health care/retail/logistics/travel and transport is a plus
Experience in any of these are a plus:
- PL/I and/or C application programming, Java and/or WebSphere Application Server development
- Adaptigent/OpenLegacy on zOS is advantage
- IBM MQ Series
- Integrating IBM Z with Azure, AWS or Google
