Our Edge Experience SRE team is responsible for defining, measuring, publishing and optimizing key performance indicators of Akamai's platform. We take a holistic view of complex systems and identify the measures which matter most to customers, and to the performance and reliability of the platform. Partnering with multiple teams we address difficult problems that go beyond having simple answers.

Partner with the best

You will trouble-shoot, assess performance and capacity of our platform, and make improvement recommendations. Having identified improvements, you'll work with product and engineering teams to implement new features and products. You will help shape the direction of our products and services and how we deploy our network.

As a Reliability Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for:

• Testing for inefficiencies and fragilities and write software or infrastructure fixes
• Designing and work with Engineering or the SRE team to build automation or provide self-service tools
• Leveraging skills in data analysis, network diagnostics and debugging tools to characterize performance and capacity of large-scale distributed systems.
• Designing, managing and tracking of Akamai's platform related KPIs to identify trends and changes to improve performance.
• Investigating proactively and analyzing platform performance to identify opportunities to maintain and enhance our advantage.
• Collaborating with internal teams to help trouble-shoot and resolve escalations and incidents for our customers.
• Working with cross-functional teams to gather customer requirements and influence how the business deploys and operates capacity.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be fluent in both software code and IaC.
• Demonstrate experience in developing solutions Python, bash, or other languages.
• Demonstrate experience in internet protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP.
• Have experience working with and analyzing complex systems in Linux, VM, and Kubernetes production environments.
• Show excellent communication skills and articulate technical information in a clear and easy to understand manner.
• Be a self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to solving problems and have a drive to improve results.
