Session: The Interconnected Developer Community and the Evolution of Software Productivity
GitHub’s VP of Engineering Rachel Potvin will discuss trends in software development over the last few years, and provide an overview of how the next decade will continue to shape an interconnected community predicated on increasing trust, safety and resiliency for the world’s digital infrastructure.
Bio
Rachel Potvin is GitHub’s VP of Engineering for the Data and Security organization. In this role she oversees GitHub’s Analytics, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Code Productivity Tooling and Security Products groups— all working to make it easier for developers to be developers: to work together, to solve challenging problems, to create the world’s most important technologies.
Before GitHub, Rachel worked at Google for 11 years. There, she most recently ran the Google Cloud Insights organization, responsible for managing and building products based on Google Cloud's customer and product data. Prior to that she ran Google’s DevOps teams focused on source control and workflow management.
Rachel also spent six years in the video game industry and two years in the financial services sector.
She is originally from Montreal, Canada and in her spare time she enjoys hiking, running, cooking, and building things with her children.
