When it comes to navigating the career path, the key is knowing exactly where you are in the food chain and being willing to decide who you want to be and how you want to achieve it. Many struggle with acknowledging their own worth, defining their boundaries, and being self-assertive in a professional setting. But today, we are going to delve into how to capitalize on these challenges and find exact measures to propel your career forward.
The Journey to Career Success
My journey is a testament to overcoming career challenges. I was often told I was too quiet, always trying to fit into molds that weren't meant for me. This left me feeling stuck and disconnected. But, through this maze, I was fortunate to have mentors and coaches who guided me and pushed me into understanding my worth, showing up at work and life actively, and making myself seen and heard for the right reasons.

Being advancement ready requires meeting certain criteria. Look beyond linear progression, see the big picture, cultivate a can-do attitude and importantly, be ready to take action. Because to get results, sitting and waiting is never the answer. In order to take action, we need what I call the "8 ingredients".
- Career Confidence: Getting comfortable stepping outside your comfort zone.
- Healthy Boundaries: Learn to say "No" without impacting relationships.
- Authentic Self Impression: Create a remarkable impression and control the narrative.
- Career Relationship and Allyship: Cultivate allies and champions in your workplace.
- Self Leadership: Master effective self-governance.
- Career Fulfillment: Identify what brings you satisfaction at work.
- Resilience and Agility: Overcome unexpected challenges and persevere through resistance.

Whenever I like to start my presentation, I like to start with the quote to help us to set the scene and make sure we are clear on what we are here to do today. And I like to start with this when life gets you down, you know what you got to do, just keep swimming. If there is one quote that defines story in Finding Nemo, this is it. And if there's one quote that define one career path, this is it in the ocean of possibilities, you can decide on any career path and the key is knowing exactly where you are in the food chain and be willing to decide who you want to be and how you want to achieve it today. We are going to look at the ocean of possibilities waiting for you and how to capitalize on exactly what you want in a career and how to get it as a self proclaimed, extroverted introvert. I spent years figuring out who the hell I was always yearning for this connection, but yet constantly wanting my solitude. You know how sometimes you just don't fully fit in but you don't feel you're excluded either you just feel stuck. And often I'm told I need to speak up. I'm too quiet and I need to try and fit in more. And this led me to constantly try to be someone. I'm not. Of course, all of this advice was given with the most well meaning intention, but it backfired.
Eventually, it made me doubt my profession abilities and eroded my confidence massively. I felt I had to constantly be positive, constantly be happy and say yes to almost everything to prove my value. It was mentally and physically exhausting. Fortunately, I also met a lot of great mentors and coaches in my career who noticed my struggles and gave me the space to figure things out, supporting me with their guidance and more importantly, pushing me to step into my power. They gave me the tools and the reality check that I needed to stop holding myself back and to start showing up to work and life attentively, I learned to hold my space, become proud and unapologetic of my value. And I start getting notice for the right reason. I was on my leaders radar quickly and started getting the promotion and advancement opportunities that I wanted. And right before a lucrative promotion, I resigned from my company with zero regrets. And this shocked a lot of people. But because I'm clear and confident of my worth and my value, a title is no longer needed. And this has been the best decision I could have made in my career. So here I am today, leaders and corporate professionals hire me to unleash their success superpower because most lack the vital, soft skill and relationship to advance in their career. So I have to re evaluate realign and redesign their leadership style, expertise and strategy for advancement rating success.
The bottom line is what got you here. It's not going to get you where you want to be. I'm here to help you to become the leader you aspire to be, to create a career that get you excited about and to advance in the right career path for you and to be the best version for yourself, many are on the exact wrong path hoping the right one would just drop in their lap.
Some are in the right place but not fulfilled, frustrated and staying for the wrong reason. They don't hate what they do, but they don't really like it either. Most know they desire and they want so much more. But the risk of making the wrong choice is paralyzing and not worth the gamble. You all need to love what you do and do what you love. I'm here to share with you the secrets. You need to surpass your career, aspiration. You will walk away with next steps to be a solid future leader and to think independently, shift your internal behaviors and challenge your comfort zone and grow your present and now is the best time to progress in your career and know what to do and how to do it. You will also have an opportunity to connect with me further to see how I can support you beyond today. So let's get right in. What are the main factors you need to surpass your career? Aspiration. First, we must look at who are you and if you are advancement ready, we all need to know if you're advancement ready and to be advancement ready, you need to meet this five criteria. First, you need to consistently deliver effective performance. It means your performance, objective fits and benefits your company's objective. You're able to drive yourself and your company forward and bring value the next one. You consistently go above and beyond. You, look beyond your role, beyond your grade, you are perform and deliver what people expect of you.
You raise the standard and the quality of work. And I want to be very clear here. This is not being the super person and doing everything and taking on any work. No, that's not. This is about the ability to know what's important and prioritize the critical element of your work and do it excellently. The next one is you can readily do your boss job. Let's be real. You will only be promoted when you can demonstrate you're able to perform at the next level, whichever that level looks like. Look beyond linear progression as well, look sideways. You also need to be able to see the big picture and be strategic. You're able to connect the dots and you understand how, what you do affects the wider team's performance. You can see what's going on upstream and downstream. And lastly, you need to have a can do attitude. This is about being resourceful, not giving and finding creative ways to get things done. Basically, you persevere and these are the five criteria to determine if your advancement rating and these are the tangible skills you tend to focus on developing. These are the skills that your manager, your company focus on developing when you start with them. And I would say these are the easiest skills to develop.
These are still important to have and are a great but given the current climate we are in, these are the basics and to truly ignite your career path, you must understand what makes you advance and ready. And action r the five points I shared at deciding if your advancement ready, we have not covered action ready yet. Some are ready for the end result but do not take the action to make it happen. Trust me. If you're sitting and waiting and just listening for the next opportunity to drop in a lab, you will never surpass your true aspiration, action gets resolved, but not everyone is ready, willing or able to take the right steps to get those results at the end of today's session.
I will give you an opportunity to see where you are on your journey and some of you still won't take it. Action taker gets result. Why? It's because they have developed the eight ingredients needed to be action ready. And this I class as the intangible skills that you need to develop. These are the skills that are not actively taught in school or at work. You tend to stumble your way around your career until you figure it out whether it works or not. And for some, you don't really develop the skills until too late in your career. And these are the skills I focus on when I work with my clients. So let's get right in to be action ready. You need this eight ingredients. The first is career confidence. You are confident in your value, your work, your abilities and whether you could consciously and consistently step outside your comfort zone. The next one is healthy boundaries and this one, a lot of people struggle with how, what kind of boundaries do you have in saying no in pushing back in challenging others when they tow the line with us, I'm not talking about the obvious black and white um situation. I think this is more of the gray areas. When someone asked you to work on days, you're not supposed to be working. When someone asked you to do something that you just don't want to do. How do you set boundaries?
Push back, challenge it, say no without impacting the relationship you have. The third one is authentic self impression. What's your story? How do you make a memorable impression? What do you want to be known for? And are you able to control the narrative that you have? The fourth one is career relationship and allyship. Who are your champions? Who are your allies in the workplace? Who speaks highly about you when you're not in the room, who are the people that you can count on to further your career who have the best interest in you? The fifth one is self leadership. How do you hold yourself? Are you true to your works? Do you know what is valuable to you? How do you lead yourself at work to be able to be effective leader to others? First, you need to master self leadership and in order to do that, you need to know what brings you career fulfillment. Do you understand your, why do you know what will bring you fulfillment and satisfaction at work? I'm not talking about passion here, I'm talking about. Are you doing something meaningful at work? Do you feel connected to what you do? The 71 is resilience and agility. Are you able to bounce back from unexpected challenges? Are you able to process information quicker? Are you able to come out persevere and persist through the resistance?
And lastly is career awareness and mindfulness. Do you take time out to reflect and take stock of where you are and more importantly, do you acknowledge your achievement and celebrate your successes? This is also something a lot of people struggle with. Are you aware, do you talk about it? And do you celebrate your achievement and successes? And these are the eight ingredients that is so important for you to develop your action ready plan. And when combined with being advancement ready, you'll be unstoppable and think of this eight ingredients as the balance circle. You want to make sure you have a balance ability in all eight ingredients. If you're doing great with a few and not so great with a few, you're not going to see success in your career. It's going to be a bit wonky. All eight are essential and this is difficult for a lot of people because we tend to focus on what comes easily to us, what comes natural and ignore the area that we are the weakest and because it takes time and effort and it makes us feels we are not good. And it's also exactly why we need to focus on strengthening those areas. And I know we have gone through so much in a short period of time and we don't have enough time to dive deep into every single element.
I could deliver a full training program on this, which I do. So that's why I want to offer you a bonus.
