About the Role

The Springer Nature Journals group aims to support researchers in communicating and advancing discovery for a better world. We do this by providing a trusted environment in which researchers can quickly, easily and transparently share their discoveries, data and research stories.

How the role fits in and the purpose?

Business Manager – Research is responsible for developing a long-term engagement with key research institutes, funders and government stakeholders for growing Springer Nature’s research business to promote Springer Nature’s vision and thought leadership position, as well as monitor and influence key policy developments, from an advocacy and outreach standpoint.

Key responsibilities

1.Actively represent organization in external forums and events centric around academic publishing, open access, editorial and research centric engagements

2. Actively support in driving operations and strategy related workloads in driving India Leadership Council

3. Closely work with various state government, central government and ministries to build impact partnership centric around OA transition.

4.Help and support our partners in the process of driving advocacy and adoption of Open Access Workloads

5.Engaging with key stakeholders like publishing acquisition team, editorial and business team and drive measurement metrics, KPIs, business dashboards etc.

6.Build, connect, grow research communities in India

7.Engage with Policy makers/Think-tanks to build engagements around research and outreach

8.Work closely with market research organizations and actively build competitive landscape and strategy for the organization.

9.Actively drive SDG initiative engaging with various national and international bodies like UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, UNDP, impact investing organizations/foundations

10.Be the SPOC to integrate DEI – internally and externally in the organization from the Research and Editorial standpoint in strengthening our commitment to this space

Experience, skills, and qualifications

• Excellent understanding of research and publishing domain
• Experience in publishing industry with knowledge on journals, and books
• Ability to communicate and manage with external research community
• Experience of handling academicians, researchers, authors in the publishing domain Exposure in handling workloads centric around SDGs in the publishing industry
• Experience in driving events, workshops in the academic publishing space

• Excellent Presentation and Communication Skills
• Strong prioritization and time-management Skills
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic and committed.
• Post-Graduate degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Strong Networking Skills.
