The Principal Cross Technology Engineer is a highly skilled engineering role, responsible for creating and maintaining a cross technology managed service to clients.

This role is a key technical leader responsible for designing, implementing and managing highly complex cross technology solutions for clients.

As a subject matter expert with extensive expertise in cross technologies and managed services, this role acts as a consultant in the field ensuring highly complex contracted Managed Services outcomes are delivered to the client.

The Principal Cross Technology Engineer guides other engineers within the team and collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert in cross technology solutions.

This is a strategic role which focuses on improving the existing infrastructure with the next cross technology architecture and providing guidance through IP on architecture / project related activities and may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

• Creates and maintains the technology Infrastructure of managed service to clients.
• Provides highly technical or sophisticated in nature cross technology support / solutions.
• Provides consultancy support where fourth-line engineer teams were unable to resolve the problem.
• Shares such knowledge, to resolve issues, documents them, and pushes the knowledge down to other engineers.
• Acts as emergency support contact as needed, for critical client and business-impacting issues.
• Communicates with other teams and clients for extending support.
• Leads the design and architecture of managed technology solutions for clients, considering their unique requirements and business objectives.
• Oversees the implementation of technology solutions, including design, configuration, and deployment and ensures adherence to best practices and industry standards.
• Monitors and optimises the performance of clients' technology infrastructures, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Implements and maintains cross technology measures, ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations and data protection standards.
• Leads the troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex technology-related incidents and problems and provides technical expertise and guidance to resolve critical issues.
• Continuously identifies opportunities to improve performance, technology, and service delivery, driving process enhancements and technological advancements.
• Creates and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including technology diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Develops scripts and automation solutions, streamlining technology operations, and enhancing efficiency.
• Plays a pivotal role in deploying and managing cross technology solutions, integrating automation tools, and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of clients.
• May manage and implement projects within technology domain, delivering effectively and promptly per client agreed upon requirements and timelines.
• May work on implementing and delivering Disaster Recovery functions and tests.
• Performs any other related task as required.

Knowledge and Attributes:

• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to identify complex security issues, brainstorm potential solutions and choose the best way to resolve an issue.
• In-depth knowledge of security technologies and understanding of managed services concepts.
• Excellent knowledge of security monitoring and management tools for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates leadership skills, with effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Excellent scripting/programming skills.
• Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby, and experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in IT/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience).
• Certifications relevant to the services provided (certifications carry additional weightage on a candidate’s qualification for the role).
• Relevant certifications include (but not limited to) -
  • CCNP / CCIE / JNCIE / JNCIP / Automation certifications or equivalent preferred.
  • CCNP or PCNSE in Security / CCIE / CISSP / Automation certifications or equivalent preferred.
  • Firewall vendor certification is mandatory.
  • VMware certified Professional: Data Centre Virtualization.
  • VMware Certified Specialist – Cloud Provider.
  • VMware Site Recovery Manager: Install, Configure, Manage.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Architect Expert.
  • AWS Certified: Solutions Architect Associate.
  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE).
  • Rubrik Certified Systems Administrator.
  • Zerto, pure, vxrail.
  • Google Cloud Platform (gcp).
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (oci).
  • SAP Certified Technology Associate - OS DB Migration for SAP NetWeaver 7.4.
  • SAP Technology Consultant.
  • SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA 2.0.
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional.
  • IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server Network.

Required Experience:

• Extended Managed Services experience handling cross technology infrastructure.
• Extended knowledge and experience in ticketing tools, preferably Service Now.
• Extended experience working in multiple large Global Enterprise client outsourcing projects.
• Extended vendor management experience.
• Extended in-depth experience and understanding of the IT industry and standards for IT service management.
• Extended experience in more than two technology domains.
• Extended experience across Emerging technology and trends impacting IT operations.
• Extended experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex enterprise cross technology solutions.
