Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
This position requires experience in areas of hardware design, and software test development, with primary emphasis on electromagnetic compatibility design. The individual will be responsible for identifying product requirements to meet EMC standards and driving electromagnetic compatibility design in new product development and legacy products. The successful candidate will develop and execute compliance test strategies for electronic products designed for use in the medical environment. Additionally, the candidate will manage and maintain an EMC lab, and partner with other business segments within Patient Care Solutions such as Diagnostic Cardiology and Maternal Infant Care, providing expertise in EMC design techniques and testing for the other business segments products.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities

Identify product requirements to meet 60601-1-2 EMC standards
-
Actively participate in the electromagnetic compatibility design of medical equipment
-
Create and thoroughly document test plans to match the product requirements for EMC standards
-
Perform pre-compliance functional testing on new and legacy medical products
-
Coordinate with compliance test agencies to obtain compliance test certifications
-
Document test procedures and results for evaluation and regulatory approvals
-
Coordinate EMC laboratory activities, including test system management and methodology training
-
Train and mentor engineering technicians to execute EMC test procedures
-
Focus on continuous improvement of quality and efficiency of testing
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

Minimum of 6 years hardware or electrical testing, including EMC experience
-
Expertise in EMC design techniques
-
Expertise with use of standard test equipment
-
Extended knowledge of software program design of EMC test systems
-
Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
-
Excellent teamwork, influencing and problem-solving skills with peers
-
Demonstrated project management skills, including prioritization and organizational skills
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
-
Must be willing to travel to local test agencies on occasion for purposes of obtaining compliance test certifications of products

Desired Characteristics

Master of Science in electrical engineering or 7 or more years of EMC experience

Familiarity in testing to 60601-1-2 EMC standard for medical equipment

Experience with building automation test systems

Experience with testing RFID Immunity (AIM Standard 7351731)

Experience with testing Wireless Coexistence (ANSI C63.27-2017)
