The Akamai Defense team works with breadth and depth across Akamai's technology stack. We strive to build and operate custom world-class systems and services for our Public Sector customers. Our Network Operations Command Center (NOCC) manages, monitors, and maintains Akamai's remote servers and network infrastructure. Our team performs software installations, configuration changes, and develops tools to support multiple globally deployed Linux networks

As a Senior Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and correcting emerging platform problems through an alert driven workflow, emails, and phone calls.
- Working in collaborative internal and external cross functional teams to achieve timely resolution of platform affecting issues
- Updating and patching system software components and configurations.
- Ensuring platform issues are clearly tracked, updated and documented
- Participating in a 24/7 network operations center shift-schedule and following operations center workflow procedures
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent
- Display solid experience of administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment
- Demonstrate experience of Linux/Unix system administration and good knowledge of SQL and Scripting languages
- Be experienced in network technologies and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN and DNS
- Have excellent communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and external customers
- Have experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $91,600 - $190,400/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
