Women in Tech Mentoring Program
When I was in high school, I told my classmates that I wanted to pursue a computer science degree. They looked at me strangely and said: "that's too difficult for a girl, you should try something easier!". I thought, "well... that's an interesting challenge", and I did it! I got myself a bachelor's and a master's degree in Computer Science.
Fast forward to the current year: I worked as a software engineer and technical manager to build highly-scalable distributed enterprise software such as the first version of UMT360 in partnership with Microsoft, software for diagnosis machines for Roche (the largest biotech company in the world), and backend systems for Gunvor (one of the largest private commodity trading companies in the world). Now I am part of Toptal, an exclusive network of the top 3% global freelance technical talent where I consult companies on their engineering strategy, set up product delivery processes, and manage fully remote teams, navigating the challenges of the new normal for work.
In 2015 I founded Dalia's Book, where I redefine the meaning of the "school" and the "teacher" and use technology as an enabler to provide equitable, high-quality education for the future of jobs to children worldwide.
My core belief is this: as creators of technology, we all have the responsibility to ensure that today's children have the skills they need to thrive in the world we are building for tomorrow.
