Session: Leadership and Nonprofit Board Service
Serving on a non-profit board provides an opportunity to develop management and leadership skills. The Appropriate Technology Collaborative (https://www.apptechdesign.org/) designs sustainable solutions and programs and provides training to developing countries. Serving on a board such as this helps develop skills such as strategic planning, budget creation, and staff selection.

Tina Watson has been an IT Leader for over 20 years. She is currently a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Western Governors University. Prior experience includes Senior Director of Infrastructure at GE Healthcare as well as leadership roles at ADP, AT&T and Bell Labs. She has a BS from Michigan State University and an MS from University of Michigan. She received a Top Michigan Women in Computing award from the Association for Women in Computing. She has served on the board of the Appropriate Technology Collaborative for 10 years.
