Akamai Technologies is looking for an experienced public policy professional to join its public policy function and lead EMEA public policy. The individual will work closely, where appropriate, with trade associations and third-party consultants to monitor and advocate on issues of import to Akamai, and will have responsibilities for internal communications regarding relevant public policy developments. This position is full-time and based in Brussels, Belgium, reporting to the Vice President, Global Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs

As a Director Senior Global Public Policy, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and oversee Akamai’s public policy function in EMEA;
  • Helping craft Akamai’s positions on policy issues;
  • Helping develop and execute strategic approaches for advancing Akamai’s public policy goals;
  • Representing Akamai with elected officials, regulators and multi-stakeholder policy groups with particular emphasis on engagement with third-party advocacy groups;
  • Preparing executives prior to meetings with government officials, including drafting materials for briefing books and developing talking points;
  • Advising Akamai teams on public policy matters that impact the Company’s operations and development of products and services;
  • Communicating public policy developments internally at Akamai and develop mechanisms for scaling internal communications;
  • Working with outside consultants and trade associations to monitor and advocate on issues of import to Akamai, including reviewing and drafting pleadings.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or professional degree;
  • Have a minimum 8 years of experience in public policy and/or public affairs matters, including government experience, and ideally experience representing corporations before the government;
  • Have significant knowledge of Internet-related public policy issues, including cybersecurity and cloud computing, as well as knowledge of Internet technologies and overall technical acumen;
  • Have experience with global policy issues and representing corporate interests internationally;
  • Have experience effectively interacting with technologists and executives in order to develop appropriate policy positions on matters impacting the business;
