Job Description:

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the following role in Cambridge, MA (multiple openings): Architect. Plan, build, maintain, and operate Akamai’s global platform; Design, develop and deploy critical technologies including the hardware, software and network infrastructure that provide the technical underpinnings for all Akamai products; Ensure consistent availability and performance of Akamai network; Discover both inertial and emergent operational properties of designs and existing systems; Provide deep analysis of technical material -- architecture documents, specifications, RFCs, etc.; Evaluate Akamai systems and designs in partnership with the authors of those designs; Advise teams in detail on how their choices can lead to more reliable systems; Communicate findings in clear and precise written documents and presentations; and Discover new ways to make the company and its platform safer and more efficient. Required Qualification:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, Information System Engineering, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Engineering, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related technical role. Alternatively, will accept Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, Information System Engineering, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related technical role.

Must have: three (3) years of experience in the following: C, C++, Object oriented programming, Python, Perl, Unit testing, Data processing in R, and Hadoop.

Compensation:

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $157,643 - $214,782/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
