Our Edge Technology team takes ownership for creating tools critical for planning, building, maintaining, and operating our global platform. We design, develop, and deploy critical software that enables the Akamai platform for infinite scalability.

We are looking for a highly motivated software engineer. You will join our unique team of developers of the Akamai own distributed software-defined networking solution.

Join our Network Software Engineering group

You will have the opportunity to learn and understand how the Internet and Akamai work from a networking perspective and participate in designing and developing unique software projects. You will control IP traffic of terabits per second and adapt IP routing to the business needs.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Building tools and developing new features for existing software
• Developing tests, test automation, and testing frameworks, performance benchmarks
• Designing reliable, high-quality, usable software that meets the needs of Edge Technology for indefinite scalability of deployed network
• Creating reusable code and libraries
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and code development
• Creating developer documentation for the tools that you write when applicable

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Demonstrate experience in writing code in Java
• Have working knowledge of frameworks such as Spring
• Demonstrate experience with other programming languages: Go, Python, C (Optionally)
• Understand networking concepts like IP addressing & IP routing, commonly-used protocols and types of networking equipment
