The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Installation, configuration and Administration of the EMC and IBM storage, including EMC Networker backup system at data center and DR site. 
  • Management of storage environment to maintain performance at desired optimum levels. 
  • Add, remove, change, and stop the backup schedule as client request
  •  Ensure that all backups are configured as per client data backup and retention policy
  • Provide recommendation to client reading backup to enhance the data protection performance efficiency and cost
  •  Manage, plan, perform and coordinate any upgrade in the backup solution as per client request 
  • Maintain, update, and document the client data backup and retention policy.
  • Vendor Coordination for troubleshooting and remediations
  • Testing Storage replication and disaster recovery configuration as when required
  •  Conduct periodic Backup restore testing for Critical systems or on request
  • Proactive storage capacity planning by monitoring trends and usage
  •  Coordinating storage problem remediation with third-party vendors.
  • Knowledge on Huawei Dorado, Pure Storage, EMC PPDM will be added advantage.

Preferred Skills and Experience: -

  • Configure and manage EMC Enterprise Symmetric arrays, Brocade SAN fabric / switches, NAS solution from EMC Isilon. 
  • Development of storage management policy, configuration and management of disk array, SAN fabric / switches, NAS, tape library, etc. 
  • Configuration of SAN whenever a new application is hosted in the data center and at DR site. This shall include activities such as management of storage space, volume, RAID configuration, LUN, zone, security, business continuity volumes, NAS, performance, etc. 
  • Implement Various Storage replication as required like IBM Copy Service, EMC SRDF, Pure Storage.
  • Manage, plan, and participate in any storage hardware replacement, controller replacement or upgrade or any other activity on the storage with storage vendor.
  • Manage, plan and participate in new storage’ expansions and tech refresh project with vendors, this includes preparing the prerequisite and review the High level and low-level design.
  • Manage, plan and participate in Brocade SAN Switch’ expansions and tech refresh project with vendors.
  • Daily Management, administration, and maintenance of various Storage and Backup solutions.
  • Maintain the data protection management to achieve the client Recovery Point Objective (RPO). 
  • Maintain and operate backup replication and data consistency between data a centers.
  • Maintain and operate backup replication with Air Gapping solution (Dell CRS) to ensure the data protection. 
  • Maintain and operate Cloud backup on the offshore site.   
  •  Backup Application, Operating system and DB Backup/Restore
