Visibility matters. The presence of female gamers within the high ranks of competitive gaming, as well as female representation in leadership roles within the gaming industry, can significantly encourage more women and girls to take an interest in gaming. Consoles and platforms can amplify this by spotlighting female achievements in gaming and promoting events or tournaments that celebrate female gamers. Although there has been some effort in this direction, the full potential of such initiatives has yet to be realized.
