Navyata Bawa works as a Developer Advocate for Meta focused on AR/VR in Oculus and Open Source Programs.
Prior to Meta, Navyata worked as a Software Engineer at multiple companies. She has always been an advocate for Women in Tech and believes that diversity brings out the best in any project that one undertakes.

Are you excited to be among the speakers at the Women in Tech Global Conference 2022 and what motivated you to join our community of 100 000 women in tech, minorities, and allies?
I’m very excited to be a part of the Women in Tech Global Conference 2022. I’ve always believed that diversity brings out the best in any team, and by enabling women to enter, grow and lead in tech, we can work together to innovate, create great products, and make a difference in the world.
Share with us about your background, your journey in tech, and what inspired you to develop your career in this direction?
I’ve always been interested in technology - tinkering with machines, trying out my first PC, and always being curious to learn about how things work behind the scenes. This encouraged me to study engineering as my undergraduate and I started my tech career with my first job as a software engineer. I absolutely loved it, but I was also very interested in art. I knew technology was the right path to take but was there a way I could add a dash of art to my daily work? That thought led to my next phase in life.
I graduated with a Master's in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was able to get the best of technology as well as art. Since then, I have been a software engineer, a gameplay engineer, a partner engineer, and now a developer advocate.

WomenTech Global Conference is an amazing opportunity not just for women, but for all allies who identify with this cause and believe that technology is better when diverse perspectives are taken and where everyone is encouraged to learn, develop, and grow. This is a great opportunity to meet with like-minded people, network, learn about their journeys and have access to professional mentorship and growth opportunities.
