Session: Ethical Considerations in Ai and Ml: Bias Detection and Mitigation Strategies
20-minute session at the Women in Tech event will delve into the crucial topic of "Ethical Considerations in AI and ML: Bias Detection and Mitigation Strategies." We will explore the inherent biases present in AI algorithms, which can perpetuate societal inequalities and exacerbate existing biases. Drawing from recent research, including the paper "A Review on Bias Detection and Mitigation Techniques in Machine Learning" by Priya Baskaran and Dr. S. Yasodha, we will examine various forms of bias and their impacts on marginalized communities.
Furthermore, I plan discuss robust strategies and playbook for detecting and mitigating bias in AI and ML systems. From algorithmic auditing to diverse and inclusive dataset collection, we will explore proactive measures to address bias at every stage of the AI lifecycle. Additionally, we will highlight the importance of diversity and representation in AI development teams to foster more inclusive and equitable technologies.
This session aims to empower attendees, particularly women in tech, to become advocates for ethical AI practices and champions for diversity and inclusion in technology. By understanding the ethical considerations in AI and ML and learning effective bias detection and mitigation strategies, we can collectively work towards building more fair, transparent, and responsible AI systems that benefit all members of society.
