Increasing the visibility of women in nanotechnology through media, conferences, and public speaking engagements is vital in inspiring a new generation. As more young women see and hear from female leaders in nanotech, they receive the message that there is a place for them in this field. Advocacy by existing women in tech also presses for systemic changes that can facilitate a smoother entry and growth for newcomers.
