Session: Changing lives from your couch
The talk will touch topics on how the pandemic changed the narrative for Social Impact Initiatives. There is a new way of giving back and making a difference in the lives of others. I will also be talking about how Social Impact has become more than PR for big corporations. Investors and Consumers are striving for impact driven corporations.
Bio
Kavya is the Co-founder of the Society of Women Coders (SOWCoders), a women-led organization that works to encourage young girls from developing nations to opt for education and careers in STEM, by conducting free coding and Entrepreneurship camps and providing mentorship. SOWCoders has worked with over 1250 girls from 27 countries around the world.
She also works as a Senior Analyst at SiriusXM in New York. Through SOWCoders,
she has worked with government agencies and civic organizations in Haiti, Kenya, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Belize to establish coding camps, and has personally taught at several of them. She also involved with the Code in place Initiative at Stanford University as a Section Leader. She is also a lead at Google Developers Group Jersey City. She is an advocate of Women Education especially in the developing world and has spoken about the same at prestigious platforms like Johns Hopkins Business School, NYU, Anita Borg, Google North America Summit 2021 etc.
