Session: Harnessing AI for creating responsible travels in the post COVID-19 times
Tourism has become one of the most affected sectors due to COVID-19 spreading. Travel restrictions, airlines go bankrupt, jobs reduction, etc. – all of that showcase the negative impact of the pandemic on one of the most important industries for the humankind's wellbeing. The present talk will be dedicated to the future of travel, especially in times of the post-COVID-19, as there is a huge belief that we will overcome this global health issue and our lives will go back to normal.
The way how we travel has been already changed even before the pandemic – e.g. face recognition in airports, voice-activated hotel rooms, personalized travel offers, and so on. However, the coronavirus raised the importance of automation, robotics, and AI to be applied for future travel purposes as never before. During the pandemic, the virtual becomes more real, and virtual tourism and immersive travel gained popularity. AI comes along with the power of automation, and it helps to make future travel experiences more niche, targeted, and, more importantly, responsible for tourists. Thus, there is an opinion that after the pandemic, AI will be here to stay and it will get even more embedded in our lives.
