Digital sustainability is the process of applying social, economic, and environmental stewardship principles to digital products, services, and data delivered via the internet. Organizations should deliver more resource-efficient digital products, and also, digital products and services can be used to advance sustainability efforts.
Bio
Ida Nganga is the Regional Head, UNESCO Emerging Technologies for Development which is based in Bordeaux, France, and Global President, Startup Innovation for the Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade. She is the Founder of the award winning Regional Consortium for Development - RCD Africa, whose experts use technology and engineering as an enabler for achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
Ida is very active in the innovation ecosystem. She sits on a number of advisory boards such as: African Telecommunication Union (ATU)'s Africa Innovation Challenge, Global Peace Foundation (GPF)'s Leap Innovation HUBS, and, has trained, mentored and judged in innovation competitions across the world including the $1 Million HULT Prize and the $10 Million Afri-Plastics Challenge.
She is on the advisory committees for Digital Innovation Framework - International Telecommunication Union (ITU); Government - AFRINIC; New Africa Strategy - ICANN; and Online Safety & Security - Communications Authority of Kenya.
She is Co-Chair, Internet for Development Global Community and the former Chairman, Membership and Outreach for Kenya for the Internet Society, the first woman to hold this position.
She is a Tech for Good & Google global partner and an Ambassador for Africa Code Week by SAP and UNESCO which has introduced over 10 million young learners to coding.
She is committed to putting a spotlight on startup development, innovation, youth mentorship, technology transfer, gender inclusion, stakeholder engagement & intercontinental collaboration.
Ida is one of the most awarded women in tech on the continent having received many accolades, such as IoT Innovation Award by European Union, Prolific Woman by United Nations & Mara Foundation, Timeless Woman Governance Award by UN Women, African Leadership Top Award 'Outstanding Mentor', Top 100 Global Women in Leadership Award by GCPIT, ISOC Africa Internet Development Fellow, Africa Rising - Women in Tech and CIO Africa Most Influential Women in Tech recognitions, Future of Tech Women in STEM Award, the list goes on.
