Angela Bates is Senior Manager of Technical Communities and Advocacy at Discover Financial Services where she also leads on culture and engagement strategy for its EMEA-based locations. Prior to joining Discover, Angela led developer relations and tech startup programs at IBM before heading up IBM Build Labs in the UK. Angela is passionate about sharing knowledge through active participation in technical communities as it forms a vital part of professional development, improves skills, productivity and promotes a trusted corporate culture. Born to a family of entrepreneurs in Nottingham, U.K. and founder of family businesses, Angela has applied her entrepreneurial spirit to make a positive contribution towards the women in tech ecosystem in the UK for the past 10 years.
