Job Title: Head of Management Reporting – Non-Financials

Location(s): Heidelberg or London - Hybrid Working Model

About the Role

The role is a key part of the Springer Nature Management Reporting, Planning & Analysis (MRPA) team within the wider Springer Nature Finance function. MRPA is a global team which provides reporting, insight and analysis to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to support and improve decision making across Springer Nature.

The role reports into the VP, Management Reporting & Group MRPA, and includes management responsibility for a team of 4 FTE.

As Head of Management Reporting – Non-Financials, the role is responsible for overseeing the development, analysis and communication of key non-financial metrics that drive business performance at Springer Nature. This includes operational metrics essential to the performance of our publishing business, as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting and other qualitative data critical to strategic decision-making.

The role requires close collaboration and coordination with our team of finance business partners and other data teams across the business to ensure our non-financial reporting is consistent and effective.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management reporting team for non-financials in collecting, analyzing, and presenting non-financial data to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Oversee the month end closing process for Non-Financials, Costs and FTE and ensure high quality and timely delivery of reporting
  • Develop and implement reporting frameworks and processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of non-financial reports
  • Drive forward process improvements and automation of standard reporting, working with our Reporting Solutions team to continuously improve reporting tools, systems and processes to enhance data quality and reporting efficiency
  • Coordinate strategic projects focused on transitioning to self-service reporting and dashboarding
  • Ensure alignment of standard KPI definitions across different departments and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards for non-financial reporting
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Finance Business Partners and regularly review and adjust our reporting inventory to deliver maximum value from our reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, sustainability and compliance, to gather relevant data and insights
  • Support with ad hoc queries from both internal and external stakeholders

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong (senior) credible influencer
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team and working cross-functionally to deliver value to an organization
  • Relationship builder with strong communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and work in a complex environment
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Degree in Finance or related field and/or comparable qualification (e.g. Certified Chartered Accountant or Registered Controller) is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
