As our Compensation Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate calculations, accounting and reporting of global employee compensation expenses for payroll, bonus and commissions paid out. You’ll help develop and strengthen collaborative relationships with colleagues in functions like HR, general accounting and FPA commissions analysis teams. You’ll also be a key team member helping to identify and drive process improvement and digital transformation opportunities. You’ll help to oversee reporting, audits, accounting operations, and policies. This role will report to the Accounting Director.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the planning, direction, and coordination of the compensation accounting and reporting operations, including reviewing the details of various compensation expenses provided and accurately accounting for them and reporting them in the financial statements.
  • Responsible for the month-end closing process, including account/variance analysis and reconciliation for the related balance sheet accounts
  • Provide oversight for accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US GAAP and local GAAP requirements
  • Help drive the identification of inefficiencies and opportunities for process improvement and help lead the implementation of best practices for all the accounting processes to scale the team
  • Own resolution of accounting questions/issues in the areas of payroll, bonus and commissions accounting. 
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement in the accounting function and support the culture of New Relic, providing assistance and direction as required to improve effectiveness and overall performance
  • Lead, retain, and develop a high performing accounting team and support their growth and professional development


This role requires
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a CA/CPA as a plus
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in handling accounting for employee compensation related aspects
  • Experience in managing a team of accounting professionals in the past is required
  • Hands on experience with NetSuite or equivalent ERP, Workday, Concur, Anaplan, Coupla, Xactly, and Blackline        
  • Strong analytical and solid technical accounting skills, including ability to independently analyze transactions and document the related accounting analysis under US GAAP, local GAAP and SEC guidance       
  • Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to land complex concepts across multiple audiences      
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to scale processes and support business needs        
  • Ability to both see the big picture and dive into the details        

Bonus points if you have
  • Experience working with an accounting organization of similar size
  • Experience in a managing accounting in SaaS product business
