Session: Building New Features as Junior Engineers
As junior engineers working on a high impact, cross platform initiative, there was a learning curve to define our best processes. On top of this, our team was formed at the beginning of the year, so it was even more challenging to adjust. From this experience, we’ve become more confident in taking on larger projects. We are excited to share our learnings from planning, working with multiple stakeholders, and integrating a third-party feature into our product.Key Takeaways

- Communicate frequently with design, other developers, and your product manager. Everyone stays in sync on how the product functions, and discrepancies between platforms are found earlier
- Be firm with your planning estimates and give yourself buffer time for communications and resolving bugs
- Maintain open communication with external teams. Schedule recurring meetings to check in and have a joint channel for async questions
