Job Description Summary
The Electrical & RF coil engineer for MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) understands the function and design of RF circuits, RF electronics, antennas and their application in the design of high power Body Transmit/Receive coils and low power receive only coils. The Lead Electrical and RF Engineer will design and implement RF designs to optimize cost, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of the final product. This engineer would develop new component and product designs for the RF Body Coil and Transmit Chain components as well as own and maintain existing installed base products. This Lead Electrical Engineering role would also study various component interactions (Magnet/Gradient/Body Coil) for MRI systems and provide solutions accordingly.

Job Description
Responsibilities:

Designing high power and low power RF electrical components and interconnects for body coils used in MRI systems.

Design and analysis of RF transmit/receive components (birdcage antenna, circuit boards, etc.)
-
Usage of RF and EM (electromagnetic) simulation/ design tools to ensure robust and efficient product design.

Engaging in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, product cost, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, quality and reliability.

Participate and lead prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent. Recommend design experiments and tests as required to draw conclusions and solutions.

Solve complex and ambiguous problems. Perform troubleshooting (at bench level and system level) encompassing multiple variables to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution. Recommend designs and conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required, to draw conclusions and solutions.

Support Field issues through troubleshooting and root cause investigation for problem resolution.

Develop robust designs for new or existing products that can be produced economically and according to established project timelines.

Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical degree

Minimum 3 years of engineering experience

Demonstrated experience in electrical design or circuit board design

Experience with electrical circuit and/or electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools
Desired Characteristics:
-
Experience with Electrical CAD software (Cadence, etc.) and computational (Matlab, etc.) or simulation tools (XFdtd, etc.)

Good understanding of Magnetic Resonance Imaging fundamentals, RF Coil design and electromagnetics

Experience with MRI system operation

Experience with numerical analysis tools and optimization methods

Hands on hardware experience on mechanical systems and components

Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
