Description & Requirements

Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets and big business, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It's what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

We are looking for a sharp and dynamic reporter to join our India business team in either Mumbai or New Delhi, with a focus on covering automobiles, aviation and the wider infrastructure sector. India is the region's most exciting growth story. Its potential to be one of the world's biggest automobile and aviation markets is only just starting to be realized, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi's infrastructure building spree is creating opportunities for global corporate giants unseen since China's rise. Yet complexities abound, from the way labyrinthine conglomerates control vast sectors of the economy, to regulatory overhang that threatens to stifle local innovation and throttle foreign investment.

You will have a wide and deep network across transport sectors in India, with the ability to break news and write original enterprise stories on topics like the population's transition to electric vehicles, the growing pains of India's aviation market and the corporate race to gain control of fundamental infrastructure sectors from cement to ports. You will also have the ability to analyze and unpack how India's powerful tycoons operate.

We are looking for someone who can make significant impact for the local business audience and find narratives that resonate with global investors and readers new to the Indian growth story. Multimedia skills are also highly desirable. Bloomberg reporters are expected to appear on TV and radio and increasingly, podcasts and videos find their way into the fabric of our storytelling.

We'll trust you to:
  • Work quickly, accurately and independently under pressure to both break news and cover breaking news
  • Collaborate well with multiple teams and editors to develop ideas
  • Use data analysis to add depth and value to news coverage, as well as formulate original story ideas
  • Innovate with story formats while promoting diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage

You'll need to have:
  • At least 5 years of experience in business journalism
  • Experience working in a real-time news environment
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
  • Excellent copy that shows precision and style
  • Flexibility, a love of fast-paced working environments, and a resilience to change
