Session: Unhooked - How to spot and reverse addictive technologies
Big Tech has become part of our daily lives, making us give our attention and energy while sometimes ignoring our own goals or becoming depressed on the way. How did these technologies become so addictive? It's not by accident, but by design. Addictive technologies know exactly what triggers us and have mastered the art of behavior change and influence while using the ease of technology to access our attention all day long. Both as designers and as individuals, we have the responsibility to understand the mechanics of these technologies and be transparent when we use them. This talk will cover the inner workings of addictive technologies, the important role tech makers play in society and how we as individuals can get ourselves unhooked.
