Session: Prioritizing Personal Career Development
If you are a manager of people, chances are you've heard that career growth and personal development are the leading drivers of employee engagement. Yet, when people leaders manage their calendars, developing new skills is quick to fall off their list. Taking time to build skills sometimes feels like a selfish pursuit, when it is really one of the best things you can do for your team, your company, and your career. During this talk, I'll cover why development is so important and how development opportunities create inflection points in a career. I'll also share how to recognize a development opportunity for you (and your team).
Bio
Nicole Rennalls joined Aspen Technology, Inc. in March 2022 as the new General Manager of the AIoT Solutions Business Unit based in Houston, TX. Before joining AspenTech, Nicole was President of Global Traffic Technologies, a subsidiary of Vontier Corporation and a maker of traffic priority control systems for municipalities worldwide. She also held leadership positions at Tektronix and Eaton Corporation. She has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Nicole is passionate about inclusion and diversity. As chair of ID&E at Vontier, she helped set Vontier's ID&E goals and implement a multi-year strategy. When she isn't working, Nicole is an avid reader, traveler, and cook. She loves spending time outdoors, especially hiking or gardening with her dog Pepper. She is also a lifelong soccer fan.
