Session: Thriving Through Uncertainty
There's no question that we've all faced a tremendous amount of uncertainty and volatility in the last couple of years. As it turns out, our minds hate uncertainty, and they respond in some predictable...and not very helpful ways. But, by practicing psychological strength, you can navigate uncertain waters with more confidence and more peace. In this workshop, we will cover some key principles about the mind that help us understand why uncertainty and volatility can be so upsetting. Many times, if we can understand why we're having a difficult time, we can practice more compassion with ourselves. We will also cover a set of tools to help you create structure amidst and increase your tolerance for uncertainty.
Bio
Dr. Ashley Smith is a licensed clinical psychologist, co-founder of Peak Mind: The Center for Psychological Strength, speaker, and author. Since earning her PhD in 2007, she has become a sought-after specialist in the treatment of anxiety disorders. In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Ashley has published a book and numerous other writings. She regularly creates workshops and trainings for a variety of audiences and organizations ranging in size from small start-ups to Fortune 5. Dr. Ashley is also open about living - and learning to thrive - with a rare visual impairment. The combination of her professional expertise and personal experiences put her in a unique position to educate and inspire. She is passionate about helping others live vibrant, happy lives while performing at their peak through the use of psychology and applied neuroscience, and her ultimate goal is to change the way people think.
Dr. April Seifert is a psychologist, data scientist, and serial entrepreneur. She holds a PhD in social cognitive psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has spent over a decade studying the ways our minds store information, form habitual and subconscious thought processes, and how all of that impacts our behaviors and life experiences. Additionally, her work in the field of Life Design complements her psychological training to create an impactful way for people to truly design their life and experiment their way forward to a truly aligned life. Dr. April is also the founder and president of Sprocket CX, a boutique company dedicated to using research, data science, and psychology to help businesses uncover insights that drive customer behavior change, engagement, and growth. She is also the co-founder of Peak Mind: The Center for Psychological Strength, a company dedicated to creating psychological trainings and wellbeing resources for individuals and forward-thinking organizations. She is a dynamic and in-demand speaker and host of the top-rated podcast Building Psychological Strength.
