Project Manager Technical Documentation
Job Description:
Objective of the role
As a project manager for the Product & Solution Documentation team you are responsible for planning, managing and administrating documentation projects and the respective resources. You are ensuring documentation is delivered in expected scope, in quality and on time. You will also plan and drive strategic initiatives such as data-driven documentation evolution.
You will work very closely with the existing project manager role in the team, with our technical writers and with stakeholders from Engineering & Innovation, Product Management, Marketing, Presales, Support and Alliances.
Focus Area
As a key member of SUSE’s Product and Solution Documentation team your responsibilities include:

Planning software documentation projects in collaboration with the respective project managers and product owners.

Planning solution documentation projects in collaboration with Support, Presales and Alliances.

Creating, managing and executing project plans for all documentation projects
-
Keeping track of workloads, resources, and deadlines .

Ensuring documentation is delivered in excepted scope, in quality and on time.

Fostering collaboration with other documentation-producing departments within SUSE to find and use synergies.

Planning and managing strategic initiatives that will shape the future of documentation at SUSE.

Analyzing surveys, web access data and monitoring the IT documentation landscape.

Required Education and Experience
-
University degree in technical writing, documentation management, or information management (or comparable professional experience).
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a project manager in the IT industry, ideally in technical writing.

Strong knowledge of documentation tools and processes.
-
Technical writing experience.
-
Web data analysis skills (Google Data Studio).
-
Solid Linux skills (incl. command line).
-
Good knowledge of DocBook XML, AsciiDoc and Git (incl. GitHub/GitLab).

Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
