The Role

We are currently looking for a DTP Operator to join our Production team at College Press. In this role you ensure that all our titles are typeset with ideal artworks & Photographs, designed to expected standards timely and safely stored for any future use.

Requirements:

• A completed Degree in Design /Publishing / Art
• 1 year minimum experience in a similar position
• Strong communication skills with excellent people skills to navigate a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
• Highly organised and self-motivated, with strong self-management skills
• Possess a drive for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Creative and open to new ways of doing things.

The Role:

• Typeset all assigned work within the expected time frames / timelines given.
• Ensure that typeset work is of high quality that maintains/improves the image of the company.
• Ensure designs of book covers and promotional material portray the corporate image of College Press and its values.
• Design covers and promotional material that are competitive and attractive for our market needs.
• Source and coordinate the production of quality and market-oriented artworks.
• Negotiate with artists optimum pricing and quick turnaround.
• Create a data bank of illustrations, photographs, diagrams and any necessary scans.
• Ensure copyright permissions are sourced and or   granted timeously.
• Typeset, design and coordinate the production of books and artworks that portray the House style and standards for the Organisation.
