About the Team 

The Data, Analytics, and Technology team is part of Springer Nature’s Research Marketing department in Springer Nature’s Research division, publishing millions of articles used by researchers, scientists and students around the globe in 3,000 scientific journals and more than 13,000 ebooks per year.

 

The Marketing Data, Analytics, and Technology team is driving the transformation of our automated, personalised customer engagement and marketing communication. There are about 40 of us in London, Berlin, Pune, New York, Jersey City, Heidelberg, Munich, and Wiesbaden. We work in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams with different nationalities, backgrounds and experience levels. Our mission is to accelerate Springer Nature’s transition to Open Access & Open Science supported by state-of-the-art Marketing - driven by technology, data, and analytics/data science. About the Role

You will be responsible for the data collection and web tracking across our key websites/platforms we leverage for Marketing Technologies, Customer Insights and Analytics. You will work with teams across the company to ensure correct implementation, compliance, and data accuracy and help shape how we integrate and use data going forward. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all requests for collecting data across Springer Nature’s platforms for our marketing technology and analytics stacks.

  • Support on managing the Data Layer and Google Tag Manager (GTM) for efficient data collection and tracking.

  • Ensure Data Governance for all on-site data being collected, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

  • Be responsible for the overall architecture and structure of data sources

  • Conduct Requirements Engineering for our key technologies such as Google Analytics 4, Twilio Segment, Hubspot, or Permutive as well as integrations with our key external marketing partners.  

  • Perform Data Privacy Assessments to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Serve as a key interface between Product Teams, Frontend Development, Marketing, Marketing Technology Teams, Product Owners, and the Data Privacy Office (DPO).

What you will be doing

Within 3 Months you will:

  • Get familiar with our technology stack and the current setup of data collection across websites and products. 

  • Get to know all members of the team and the various Stakeholders and their general requirements.

  • Run an assessment of the status quo, share first ideas & recommendations and start working with colleagues across frontend teams, analytics, UX, and enterprise architecture on a concept for future change. 

By 3-6 months you will:

  • Have a good understanding of Springer Nature’s products, business models, and strategies.

  • Be the main point of contact for data collection across our key websites/platforms in the Marketing Organisation.

  • Managing requirements, milestone plans and stakeholder communication - ensuring also non-technical stakeholders are kept informed.

  • Be able to explain and visualise the benefits and trade-offs of proposed solutions.

  • Be able to understand and discuss business requirements with stakeholders and Product Managers, and help other disciplines with these conversations.

  • Have a clear understanding of priorities, gaps, and challenges in our setup with actionable recommendations on how to address them.

By 6-12 months you will:

  • Established an architecture, processes, and means of collaboration to improve our data collection and be better equipped to react to changing market and customer needs as well as to technological advancements.

  • Jointly manage the Data Layer with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure a high degree of user experience, data consistency, and compliance across the organisation. 

About You

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to liaise between various teams effectively.

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge web tracking technologies (client-side, server-side), Google Tag Manager (GTM), Web Analytics Solutions ideally Google Analytics, conversion APIs, consent management etc. 

  • Experience in requirements gathering and analysis

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks efficiently.

  • In-depth understanding of data governance principles and data privacy regulations.

  • Ideally, hands-on experience in areas such as managing Google Tags (GTM) for web properties (e.g. proficiency in creating custom triggers, tags, and variables within GTM), basic knowledge of JavaScript and HTML, and basic knowledge of SQL / Google Big Query. 

Being fluent in English is important; collaboration is important in our day-to-day work, so being able to communicate your ideas and understand others is key.
