Job Summary

As a Software Engineering Manager for the ONTAP File System Group , you will drive engineering projects and development support by collaborating with cross-functional teams across NetApp. You will direct the activities of a software systems development function and a quality assurance function for building and maintaining solutions in ONTAP. You will impact the planning, execution, and delivery of parallel projects enabling NetApp customers to embrace Hybrid Cloud and software-defined solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Lead a team of high performing software development and test engineers
  • Contribute expertise to software architecture and design of distributed system features
  • Facilitate product design, implementation and support, including getting hands-on as needed
  • Provide coaching and career development for members of your team
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely and high-quality release of modules in ONTAP
  • Work closely with product management and customers to build the best product
  • Take responsibility for results including costs, methods and staffing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, Clear understanding of the product development cycle and project management
  • Experience with developing budgets and predicting project costs, Demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees
  • Ability to understand and apply new technologies
  • Experience in hands-on systems software development
  • Experience with the systems engineering domain requiring concepts such as computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms & data structures
  • Experience in managing software development projects with C/C++ in LINUX/UNIX environments
  • Experience with storage technologies or cloud technologies is a plus

Education

  • BTech in Computer Science,or a related field required with a minimum of 10-15 years of related experience of which at least 5+ years of experience as a people manager is required
