The Role

As a Software Engineering Architect at Kyndryl, you will be responsible for leading the charge in creating technical blueprints, defining product/solution architecture, and developing the technical specifications for our projects. You'll be a key player in integrating the features of our software applications into a cohesive and functioning system.

Your analytical and creative mindset will be put to the test as you anticipate trends, stay up-to-date on leading technology, and participate in Kyndryl's architectural boards. Your expertise will guide functional objectives and technologies, and you'll be a driving force in evaluating, identifying, and developing software solutions.

In addition to your technical prowess, you'll also be a strong leader and communicator, able to train and oversee the activities of our development team. You'll foster a collaborative environment and work closely with Marketing Managers, Product Managers, Programmers, and Engineers to ensure our software solutions are meeting the needs of our business and our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor development teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence
• Design and oversee implementation of scalable software architectures
• Drive modernization of legacy applications using current best practices
• Establish coding standards, architectural patterns, and development workflows
• Make strategic technology decisions and framework selections
• Guide teams in implementing clean code practices and design patterns
• Lead technical design reviews and architecture governance
• Collaborate with product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Drive adoption of test automation and quality practices

Required Technical and Professional Experience

• 8+ years of software development experience with at least 3 years in architectural roles
• Strong experience in multiple programming languages and frameworks
• Proven track record of leading software modernization projects
• Experience building and leading development teams
• Deep understanding of software design patterns and architectural principles
• Expertise in API design and microservices architecture
• Strong background in automated testing and CI/CD practices
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Knowledge of cloud-native development practices
• Solid understanding of database design and data modeling

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures
• Experience with containerization and orchestration
• Understanding of security best practices in software development
• Experience with multiple front-end frameworks
• Background in performance optimization and scalability
• Strong technical mentorship capabilities
• Excellence in technical documentation and communication
• Experience with architectural decision records (ADRs)
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code
