Instead of returning to my generalist role post-maternity, I decided to specialize in cybersecurity, a field I've always been passionate about. This pivot involved additional certification and training, but it was worth it. The specialization has not only increased my value as a tech professional but also reinvigorated my passion for my work. The support from my employer and the ability to work more flexible hours made this transition smoother than I had anticipated.
